      <title>Les monuments honorifiques de Cos</title>
      <link>https://devisu.inha.fr/histoiredelart/294</link>
Despite representing the majority of buildings in the public spaces of Greek cities, honorary monuments have nowadays, for the most part, disappeared. In order to reconstruct the context and create an image of these structures, each composed of a base, inscription, and portrait, it is crucial to mix art history and archaeology. This article aims to show how, by analyzing the archaeological aspects of the material unearthed on the island of Kos, we can restore the appearance of the honorary monuments dating from the Hellenistic and Imperial periods and get to know their original emplacement. The case study presented here will take the reader through the reconstruction of the family monument of Caius Stertinius Xenophôn, a wealthy benefactor born in Kos, who lived in the 1st century AD. </description>
